Los Angeles, CA – In a significant breakthrough in a tragic 2022 case, Dejaune Anderson, an Indiana mother, was arrested in California in connection to the murder of her son, Cairo Jordan.
Following a crucial tip, U.S. Marshals detained Anderson on March 14, 2024, at a train station in Arcadia, a Los Angeles suburb. She was wanted in Washington County, Indiana, on charges including Murder, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death, and Obstruction of Justice.
The lead that culminated in Anderson’s arrest originated from a concerned citizen’s information, which was relayed to Indiana State Police Detective Matt Busick. This tip led authorities directly to Anderson as she attempted to use public transportation, showcasing the effectiveness of community and inter-agency collaboration.
The investigation into Cairo Jordan’s death began in earnest in April 2022 after a mushroom hunter stumbled upon a suitcase in a secluded woodland area in Washington County, revealing the body of 5-year-old Cairo.
