The Manteno Pizza Hut cooked up their last carry out and delivery Tuesday night.

EYM Pizza, who is a franchisee for Pizza Hut locations, did not return a request sought for why the location abruptly closed. The location was housed in a building in the 100 block of South Creek Drive.

An employee who answered the phone as “James”, and would not give his last name, said that “Corporate didn’t tell me why, contact EYM (owner of the franchise) or Pizza Hut”.

A call to Bourbonnais Pizza Hut, located at 559 Main St NW, revealed that neither they, the Monee facility, nor the recently opened Kankakee location, will be offering delivery to Manteno.

The Manteno location also participated in the “Book It” program, which rewarded local school age children with free personal pizzas for completing reading assignments. Those certificates can be honored at the other two area locations.

Jimmy Johns, which is the last remaining business open in the building, is still open and they “have no plans to go anywhere”, according to an employee who answered their phone Thursday.

In the building housing the aforementioned Pizza Hut and Jimmy Johns, The National Bank of St. Anne, will be opening a branch under the name of National Bank of Manteno, sometime in the Spring of 2020, according to their website. The bank is replacing a location vacated by Family Video, nearly two years ago.

One employee, who wished to stay anonymous, said on Tuesday that the construction of the bank hurt the restaurant’s overall business, as well as the terms of their lease. He also said there were no plans to replace or relocate the Manteno location.
