MOKENA, IL – Every day brings a new set of challenges for Mokena’s dedicated firefighters.
They bravely tackle unforeseen incidents, always prepared for the unexpected. Tuesday, however, was an extraordinary day even by their standards, especially for the firefighters stationed at Red Shift Station #2.
In a surprising turn of events, Truck 92 was called upon to aid a concerned citizen who had recently adopted a parrot named Ozzy. The feathery newcomer had taken an adventurous flight around the neighborhood and eventually found solace atop a towering tree. Perched happily, Ozzy observed his surroundings, seemingly content in his newfound domain.
Ozzy’s worried owner reached out to the Mokena Fire Department, seeking assistance in retrieving her daring avian friend. Coming to the rescue was none other than Lt. Newton, a seasoned firefighter who has encountered his fair share of bird-related predicaments throughout his illustrious career.
With his expertise in bird rescues, Lt. Newton approached the task at hand with confidence. Employing his knowledge and experience, he gently coaxed Ozzy to leave the tree branch that held him captive. After a few persuasive words, Ozzy finally relented, soaring through the air with grace and precision before being reunited with his owner.
