Normal, IL – Police Successfully Deescalate Knife Incident on Susan Drive

Normal, IL – A potentially dangerous situation involving an armed individual with a knife was peacefully resolved today in Normal. 

Early this morning, Normal Police Department officers were called to the 200 block of Susan Drive following reports of an armed subject. Swift action by the officers, who arrived at the scene at approximately 10:17 AM, helped prevent any harm.

According to Normal PD, officers established a perimeter and initiated communication efforts with the individual. By 11:40 AM, the situation had been deescalated, and the individual was taken into custody without further incident. The operation included assistance from the Normal Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team, Illinois State University Police, and McLean County Sheriff’s Department.
