Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Govenor announced the news on Wednesday.  Stitt became the first Governor in the United States to test positive for the pandemic.

In a news conference the Govenor attended virtually, Stitt announced the positive test returned after he was tested on Tuesday.

“I feel fine, I felt a little bit achy yesterday, I didn’t have a fever but just a little bit achy so I just did my regular testing and it came back positive,” Stitt said. “That’s why I just want to encourage Oklahomans to continue to get tested.”

Stitt, a Republican, attended the recent Trump rally in Tulsa.  Stitt said he was certain he didn’t contract the virus at the Tulsa event.  The news came with the state recording record high infections, with nearly 1,000 new cases on Tuesday.
