Quad Cities, IA/IL – After a spate of thunderstorms expected later today in the Quad Cities area, a surprising twist in the weather pattern could bring snow midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Quad Cities, severe storms are forecast this afternoon and evening, particularly south of Interstate 80. Areas south of Ottumwa, Iowa to Galesburg, Illinois are at the highest risk, with large hail and damaging winds being the primary concerns.

As Monday’s storms give way, a brisk transition to wintry conditions is anticipated by Wednesday. Forecasters anticipate dry conditions with a gradual warming trend as the week progresses. Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather advisories and prepare for a sudden shift from severe storms to winter-like conditions.
