Davenport, IA – A chilly start this morning with freezing temperatures is quickly giving way to a rapid warm-up across eastern Iowa and western Illinois, with temperatures climbing into the 70s by Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, a Freeze Warning was in effect early Monday as lows dropped into the upper 20s to low 30s. Conditions will improve quickly, with highs reaching the mid-50s to upper 60s today along the I-74 corridor, including Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island.

The warming trend accelerates Tuesday, with highs jumping to the mid to upper 70s across the region. Southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph will develop, and a low to medium chance—between 10% and 40%—of light showers or an isolated storm arrives Tuesday evening into the overnight hours.

By Wednesday, temperatures hold in the upper 70s with dry conditions returning, providing a brief stretch of stable weather for travel and outdoor activities. Major routes including I-80 and I-88 are expected to remain largely unaffected outside of any brief Tuesday night showers.

Residents should protect sensitive plants early today, then prepare for breezy and warmer conditions through midweek. Additional updates may be issued if storm chances increase Tuesday night or later in the week.
