Rare Nature Moment: Coyote vs. Raccoon Battle in Will County

JOLIET, IL – The Forest Preserve District of Will County recently captured an intense moment on one of its trail cams, featuring a coyote vs. raccoon showdown. 

In the footage, posted to social media, two coyotes can be seen attacking a lone raccoon. One of the coyotes has the raccoon in its mouth while the other circles around. Suddenly, another raccoon comes running to the aid of its friend, causing both coyotes to retreat into the wild.

The incident was caught on camera and shared by the Forest Preserve District of Will County. It is a rare occurrence, as coyotes are known to prey on raccoons. It is possible that the coyotes may have won the battle and had a meal, or they may have retreated with their tails between their legs.
