Kankakee, IL – Residents of Kankakee and University Park can now safely consume their tap water, as Aqua Illinois has lifted the Boil Water Notice for most areas. This update impacts several communities in the Kankakee System, including Aroma Park, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Grant Park, Kankakee, Limestone, and Manteno, as well as University Park and Green Garden in the University Park System.
According to Aqua Illinois, the advisory was rescinded following extensive testing. Over 100 water quality tests conducted across more than 50 locations confirmed the water meets safety standards. The tests, taken 24 hours apart, were necessary due to a weather-related water main break. However, residents of Cordoba Court and Fiesta Drive in University Park are advised to continue boiling water until further notice, expected to be lifted later in the evening.
Aqua Illinois expressed gratitude towards customers, community leaders, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, and its own team for their patience and efforts in restoring water services.
