BOURBONNAIS – It’s held multiple successful events so far in Bourbonnais, and now the non-profit Secret Food Pantry will have a permanent mobile home for operations.
The Village of Bourbonnais made the announcement Tuesday, adding Bourbonnais Township will donate a $5,000 check to the non-profit operation, founded by MaryLu Krueger.
“This is just one example of what happens when local organizations work together,” explained Mayor Paul Schore. “We are happy to help with a much-needed location for the mobile pantry to operate and offer resources from the Bourbonnais Police Department to assist with traffic safety. Bourbonnais Township further stepped in to provide a monetary contribution. It’s a win-win for our community in need.”
The Secret Food Pantry will operate on the first and third Thursday of every month, at various times. The next event will take place Thursday, April 1st from 1:30 pm to 3pm at the Bourbonnais Municipal Center parking lot.
According to Kruegr, anyone can come for food; there are no residential or financial restrictions.
