Severe Weather Alert: Damaging Winds Expected Across Southwest Michigan

Grand Rapids, MI – Damaging winds are expected to hit Southwest Lower Michigan today, prompting a severe weather alert for the region.

According to the US National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, thunderstorms tracking into the Muskegon to Holland area early this morning bring the potential for severe weather. The primary threat is damaging winds, which are anticipated to be most intense between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. 

Residents in affected areas, including Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, are urged to take precautions. The weather service advises securing outdoor objects, staying indoors, and avoiding travel if possible. Lightning and heavy downpours are also expected throughout the day, potentially causing hazardous road conditions due to water pooling.
