St. Louis County, MO – A double shooting in north St. Louis County early Tuesday morning left one man dead and another injured, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, officers responded around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1100 block of Congress Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two adult men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police said one victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. The second victim was also taken to a hospital and is expected to survive with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred in the North County Precinct area, part of the greater St. Louis metro region. Authorities have not released the identities of the victims as of Tuesday morning.
