West Bend, WI – A late-night hit-and-run in the Town of West Bend has left a local resident injured and a pet dead, prompting an urgent search for a suspect vehicle involved in the Monday night incident.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, following reports of a crash on Hillcrest Drive. Preliminary investigations suggest a suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound on Hillcrest Drive after turning from Nabob Drive when it struck both a pedestrian and a dog.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and continued traveling eastbound away from the scene without providing aid. While the pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, officials confirmed the dog tragically died at the scene.

Based on evidence collected by investigators, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a silver or gray 2019–2022 Chevrolet 1500 or 2500 pickup truck. The vehicle likely has fresh damage consistent with a collision.

Sgt. Brandon Hood is urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver or the location of the vehicle to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately. Law enforcement emphasized that community tips may be critical in ensuring accountability for the hit-and-run.
