Watseka Double Homicide: Kankakee Man Arrested for Gruesome Killings, Two Dead

WATSEKA, IL – In a tragic turn of events, the serene streets of Iroquois County were marred by a heart-wrenching double homicide Thursday, leading to the arrest of Scott E. Peterson, a 44-year-old resident of Kankakee. 

According to Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers swiftly responded to the scene Thursday taking Peterson into custody on charges of First Degree Murder (Class M Felony).

Watseka Police Department (WPD) rushed to the 300 block of West North Street following reports of gunshots. Inside a residence, the lifeless bodies of Amanda Peterson, 42, and Joseph Robinson, 38, were discovered. Amid the grim scene, a 21-year-old male survivor sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Peterson, the alleged perpetrator, was apprehended at the scene by WPD. Presently, he is confined to Iroquois County Jail, where he awaits charges for First Degree Murder, facing two counts for each victim. 

An investigation into the case remains ongoing by Illinois State Police.
