Crest Hill, IL – In a heartrending incident on Saturday night in Crest Hill, Illinois, a hit-and-run crash claimed the lives of a couple from Plainfield.
The victims have been identified by the Will County Coroner’s Office as 68-year-old Danny Cooper and his wife, 53-year-old Laurie Cooper. The Crest Hill Police Department is actively seeking information on a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is believed to be the vehicle involved.
According to Crest Hill Police, evidence suggests the Jeep has damage to its front driver’s side, based on debris discovered at the scene of the crash. The tragic event unfolded just before midnight on the 2100 block of Plainfield Road. Upon arrival, officers found the victims in the roadway. Despite the immediate response and treatment efforts by the Lockport Fire Department, both victims succumbed to their injuries. The investigation led to the temporary closure of Plainfield Road, from the intersection of Fern St to Sweetbriar Ave, for several hours.
