Fort Wayne, IN – A quick round of snow will hit Northern Indiana tonight before transitioning into freezing rain early Saturday. The National Weather Service warns that slick roads and reduced visibility could impact travel overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin in northwest Indiana between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST, then move eastward. Snowfall totals are expected to be 2 inches or less, but even light accumulation could create hazardous driving conditions.

Early Saturday morning, lingering snow will transition into freezing rain across the region. Ice accumulation is expected to be less than 0.10 inches. The wintry mix will eventually change to rain by late morning.

Travelers should exercise caution on untreated roads and sidewalks. Even small amounts of ice can make surfaces dangerously slick. Drivers should allow extra time for their morning commute.

Another round of snow is possible Saturday night. Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and check local road conditions before traveling. For hour-by-hour forecasts, visit weather.gov/iwx.
