MANTENO – Manteno High School football standout and Offensive Lineman Josh Gesky has committed to the University of Illinois.

The three-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals received offers from Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Southern Illinois and Syracuse, but chose the Fighting Illini because “It is a close Big Ten school and it has amazing academics.”

Gesky plans to major in business while at Illinois. Druing his time in Manteno, Gesky was a two-time Academic All-State and two-time Interstate 8 All-Conference team. Gesky was recruited by Offensive Line coach Bob McClain and Offensive Coordinator and current Head Coach Rod Smith.

Gesky, an all-area player, was ranked by ESPN as one of the top 50 recruits in the state.

Although today is National Signing Day, Gesky committed to Illinois on August 9th.
