Atlanta, Georgia – Isolated thunderstorms are expected to return across Central Georgia Wednesday afternoon, with the potential for brief downpours and lightning disrupting travel through the holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, scattered storms are most likely between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday in areas including Macon, Warner Robins, Milledgeville, and parts of the I-75 and I-16 corridors. A hazardous weather outlook remains in effect for all of north and central Georgia, warning of continued storm chances each afternoon through Monday, July 8.

The pattern will bring hot, sunny mornings followed by pop-up thunderstorms, particularly in counties like Bibb, Houston, Laurens, and Baldwin. While no widespread severe weather is expected, localized heavy rain and gusty winds could affect outdoor events and July 4th celebrations. Drivers should watch for slick roads and temporary street flooding, especially in urban areas.

Temperatures across the region will remain in the low 90s with high humidity, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor work during peak heat, and monitor alerts from local emergency management.

The National Weather Service does not anticipate spotter activation through tonight, but further updates may be issued as conditions evolve.
