Springfield, IL – The countdown to the 2026 Illinois State Fair officially begins with a “100 Days Out” celebration set for Tuesday, May 5, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

According to the Illinois Department of Agriculture, the free event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Reisch Pavilion, offering attendees a preview of popular fair food and a chance to prepare for this year’s fair season.

Organizers say several well-known vendors will be on site, including Mickey’s Massive Burritos, On Point Concessions, Taft’s Mr. Ribeye, Vose’s Korndog, and Scoop Du Jour. The lineup will feature a variety of fair favorites, from tacos and ribeye sandwiches to tornado potatoes and award-winning desserts.

In addition to food, attendees can enter to win one of five Illinois State Fair prize packages. Officials note that no purchase is required, and winners do not need to be present to claim prizes.

Fairgoers will also be able to purchase advance items such as mega passes, jumbo passes, admission booklets, and parking passes during the event.

According to Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II, the celebration serves as an early kickoff to one of the state’s most anticipated annual traditions. Fair Manager Rebecca Clark added that the event gives visitors a chance to enjoy classic fair food ahead of opening day.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair is scheduled to run from August 13 through August 23 in Springfield.

Admission and parking for the May 5 event are free.
