Marquette, MI – High river levels continue to impact parts of Upper Michigan today, with flooded areas lingering near streams and low-lying roads even as temperatures begin to climb.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, rivers and streams remain elevated following recent runoff, and flooding—while slowly receding—will persist through at least midweek. Officials warn that water may still cover rural roads and low crossings, especially near Gwinn and other flood-prone locations.

Temperatures will rise steadily over the next several days, reaching 66°F Tuesday, 72°F Wednesday, and up to 78°F by Thursday in interior western areas. While the warmer air will help melt remaining snow, it may also prolong higher water levels in some rivers before conditions fully improve.

Drivers should avoid water-covered roads and use caution near fast-moving streams, where banks may be unstable. Areas near smaller creeks and tributaries remain particularly vulnerable to localized flooding.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve later this week, but additional rises are possible if snowmelt accelerates. Residents should continue monitoring local alerts as river levels fluctuate through Thursday.
