Winnipeg, MB – A fatal pedestrian crash early Sunday morning has prompted an ongoing investigation by Winnipeg police, with authorities asking the public for help.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded just before 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, to the intersection of Henderson Highway and Neil Avenue for reports of a collision involving a pedestrian. A 32-year-old man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Police say the man was crossing Henderson Highway on foot when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver remained at the scene, called 911, and cooperated with responding officers.

The Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including road conditions, visibility, and potential contributing factors.

The intersection sits along a busy corridor in northeast Winnipeg, often used by commuters traveling between residential neighborhoods and the city’s downtown core. While no closures were reported following the incident, the crash highlights ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety along major roadways, particularly during early morning hours when visibility may be reduced.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam, security, or cellphone footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward. Tips can be directed to the Traffic Division at 204-986-7085 or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
