NAPERVILLE, Ill. — In a month’s time, the Naper Settlement in Naperville, Illinois, will be transformed into a lively haven of traditional German revelry as it hosts its annual Oktoberfest celebration on October 6-7.

Under a sprawling heated tent, the festival promises an impressive selection of brews to quench your thirst.

From Hofbräu Oktoberfest to Spaten Oktoberfest and Schöfferhofer Grapefruit, the event boasts one of the largest Oktoberfest beer varieties in the area. But it’s not just about the drinks – traditional German cuisine, including bratwurst and pretzels, will be on offer, curated by food vendors like Belgio’s Catering and John’s Rib House.

Musical enthusiasts are in for a treat, as the festival lineup guarantees foot-stomping tunes. Friday night commences with Ed Wagner’s Lustige Blaskapelle, followed by the energetic Polkaholics. Saturday offers an eclectic mix with Freeze Dried, Whiskey Romance, and the dynamic Lowdown Brass Band. Competitive spirits can test their mettle in the stein holding contest on Saturday – a true test of strength and determination.

Family-friendly activities abound, with lawn games for kids and professional pumpkin carving demonstrations for all to enjoy. A professional pumpkin carver will be on-site, crafting jack-o’-lantern masterpieces.

Ticket prices for this two-day celebration are set at $20 for adults and $15 for youth aged 4-12. Event policies include bag checks for security, restrictions on outside food and drinks, and designated smoking and vaping areas. Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.

Regardless of weather, the festivities are set to unfold. In the event of severe weather, the Naper Settlement will prioritize patrons’ safety and temporarily close the event grounds.

Whether a beer aficionado, a music lover, or simply seeking family-friendly fun, Oktoberfest at Naper Settlement promises an authentic experience. Prepare your lederhosen, raise your steins, and embrace the rich German traditions that this event embodies.
