“We Count 2020” Census Campaign Kick-Off Event

Joliet Mayor Bob O’Dekirk will provide an opening keynote address on the importance of getting a complete count for the upcoming 2020 U.S. Census. The event will also feature a presentation by the U.S. Census Bureau on the basics of the 2020 U.S. Census, and by the Spanish Community Center on outreach efforts to hard-to-count populations of the community.

Identity Theft Community Event

Join the First Bank of Manhattan and First Bank of New Lenox on August 24th for a free Shredding and Food Drive! The event will take place on August 24th at the First Bank of Manhattan and again on September 14th from 9:30am-11:30am. It’s asked you bring a non-perishable food item for donation to local food pantries. All documents will be shredded on site, limit fifteen boxes.

Mayor of Joliet Hosts Town Hall Meeting

Mayor of Joliet Bob O’Dekirk will host a town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the VFW Cantigny Post, 826 Horseshoe Dr. in order to discuss the recent wave of violence on the city’s west side. City Officials wish to have an open dialogue with residents and answer any questions regarding the issues at hand. The Mayor will be accompanied by other members of the City Council, Police Chief Al Roechner and command staff members of the Joliet Police Department.

Severe Weather Warning System Receives Upgrade

The City of Joliet’s severe weather warning system will experience an upgrade beginning Friday, August 9, 2019. This new software will monitor Tornado Warnings issued by the National Weather Service and only sound severe weather sirens where a threat has been indicated.
