Kankakee Police Department to Host Citizens Police Academies

Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee Police Department has scheduled police academies for residents. The academies provide an opportunity for residents to build relationships with officers, learn the functions of the department and gain an understanding of local police work in their community. The Citizens Police Academies consists of classes that will last 8 weeks, meeting once a week.

Kankakee County gives Animal Control leash to Sheriff

As a result of today's vote, as of December 1st, 2019, Animal Control will fall under the umbrella of the Sheriff's Department. Animal Control Director Julie Boudreau will step down from her duties that day and a new administrator will be appointed by the Sheriff's Department and County Board.

Jack Sikma, NBA Champion and St. Anne High School Alumni, inducted into Basketball Hall of Fame

St. Anne High School Alumni and Sonic’s legend Jack Sikma has entered the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. An NBA Champion, seven-time All-Star and Kankakee born native, Sikma helped take the Cardinals boys basketball team to a fourth-place finish during the 1974 IHSA Class A tournament. The NBA Champion has fond memories of his High School days in St. Anne, as he reminisced during his speech on Saturday.
