The Village of Bourbonnais and Bourbonnais Township Park District introduce a new and FREE family event! Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 13th, children ages two to six can pedal, push or power their mini-vehicles to the Children's Safety Center at 747 Stratford Drive East for a parade, car show, judging and awards, followed by a movie and popcorn! Spectators of all ages are welcome. Pre-registration is required for the car show judging.

City of Kankakee Wishes Fire Deputy Chief Bruno Well on His Retirement

Bruno was born and raised in the city of Kankakee, attending St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from Bishop McNamara in 1984. Bruno then joined the Army, spending 3 years in active duty and 3 years in the reserves. After the military, he married his high school sweetheart, Trina. Deputy Chief Bruno said the fire service was a family affair. Bruno’s father-in-law, brother-in-law and brother all worked for the Kankakee Fire Department before he was hired by the city of Kankakee in 1990.

Single Case of Legionnaires’ Disease reported at Manteno Veterans’ Home

MANTENO – This afternoon, the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs (IDVA) learned that a case of Legionnaires’ disease was identified in a resident at the Manteno Veterans’ Home (IVHM) and notified all residents, families, and staff. The resident is being treated and is in stable condition.
