Bourbonnais man dies while incarcerated in Kankakee after “medical incident”

KANKAKEE – An inmate at the Jerome Combs Detention Center has died.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, 37 year-old, Terrance D. Washington, of Bourbonnais suffered “an apparent medical incident” while incarcerated. The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene and pronounced Washington dead on the scene.

JCDC Medical Staff and Kankakee Fire Paramedics were unable to revive Washington.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Washington, as well as the medical staff and corrections staff at the Jerome Combs Detention Center,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. 

An autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
