Bystander Injured After Shooting Erupts in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A bystander was struck by a bullet during a shooting that occurred after an unrelated argument in Champaign late Friday night. 

According to Champaign police, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Springfield Avenue at 11:42 p.m. for a report of a shooting with injuries. Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old female victim from Champaign with a non-life-threatening graze wound to her left hand. The victim was treated on the scene by police, fire, and EMS personnel and was not transported. 

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477.
