The Chicago region is set to join all three others moving onto the next phase of reopening on May 29th.

Governor J.B. Pritzker announced the region has reached the thresholds to meet other regions in the state for the next phase of reopening.  That includes Cook and collar counties like Will, Kankakee and Dupage. Under Phase 3, offices, salons and barber shops can open with limited capacity with gatherings of 10 or fewer allowed.

“As of today, every region is on track to do that,” Governor Pritzker said earlier today. In order to be on track, a region must be below 20% positivity rate.

IDPH announced Thursday afternoon 3,239 new cases of COVID-19 and 138 deaths in the past 24-hours.  Included in today’s deaths, 17 residents of Will County ranging in ages 40 to over 100 years old.

There have now been a total of 87,937 cases of COVID-19 to date in Illinois stretched across 99 of Illinois 102 counties.  Nearly 4,000 have died since the pandemic began.  The death total currently stands at 3,928 deaths.
