BRAIDWOOD – Several local agencies are asking the public for assistance identifying suspects of recent thefts at local gas stations in the area.

The Braidwood and Minooka Police Departments along with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating a string of reported thefts at local gas stations in recent days featuring a red Nissan SUV. The thefts occurred this past Monday at a Minooka BP Mini Mart and an Amoco in Grundy County, again on Tuesday at Circle K Gas Station in Braidwood Tuesday.

During each case, a white male suspect exits the passenger side of the Nissan and walks into the gas station, asking for cartons of cigarettes. After a cashier sets them on the counter, the man grabs the cigarettes, racing to the vehicle with the driver waiting to drive away. Investigators believe the man to be the same suspect in each case.

Anyone with information to the identity of the unknown suspect is asked to contact the Braidwood Police Department at 815-458-2342 and ask to speak to Detective Sergeant Altiery.
