Dr. Michael Boyd inaugurated as President of Kankakee Community College

Kankakee Community College held a formal inauguration Dr. Michael Boyd as its seventh president on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

In addition to an address by Boyd, remarks were made by Patrick Martin, chair of the KCC Board of Trustees; Daisy Solorzano, student representative; Steve DePasquale, KCC faculty association president; Phil Kambic, president and chief executive officer of Riverside HealthCare; Maureen Powell, KCC alumnae and site head of communications for CSL Behring; and Dr. Lynette Stokes, president of South Suburban College.

During the inauguration, the President’s Medallion was conferred upon Boyd by Martin as a representation of the trust and authority invested in the president by the board of trustees. The medallion is worn by the president along with other academic regalia at official celebrations such as inaugurations and commencement.

Music was provided by the Manteno High School concert band and Manteno High School Jazz Studio Orchestra, both directed by Dan Tripp.
