First Baptist Church in Manteno will be distributing free disinfectant this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (June 4-6).
The effort is part of First Baptist Manteno’s Disaster Relief Team. Anyone from any town is invited, but you must bring your container to have filled up with disinfectant.
It’s an effort to help local communities fight COVID-19. First Baptist Church says the disinfectant was provided by the manufacturer. It is the same product the disaster relief teams use when deployed for clean-up after storms.
This past year, First Baptist Manteno established a Disaster Relief Team. First Baptist houses a mass feeding unit. When this equipment and volunteers are mobilized, they can provide over 5,000 meals per day. The church works with Send Relief from Southern Baptists, which also works with the Red Cross and Salvation Army. From right here in Kankakee County the unit can travel anywhere in America and respond to things like hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and other disasters. Other teams with Send Relief operate shower trailers, laundry trailers, clean-up crews, and more.
