KANKAKEE – Four newly announced COVID-19 deaths have been reported since last Friday in the County.
That was the last time numbers were released from the Kankakee County Health Department, which does not report numbers on weekends. Monday’s numbers were delayed and not released to the public until late Tuesday afternoon.
There have now been a total of 172 victims of the pandemic reported in Kankakee County.
According to Kankakee Health Department officials, roughly 2% of the population or 2,062 residents have now been fully vaccinated. Over 8,200 residents have now received the first dose of the duel dose vaccine.
Active case numbers continue to fall locally. On Tuesday, an additional 83 cases were reported since Friday, including 57 from a belated Monday posting. Less than 750 active cases are now reported in Kankakee with a seven-day rolling positivity rating that has fallen to 4% Tuesday.
Region 7 rolling seven-day positivity is now at 6.1%.
