The Village of Frankfort will hold a video conference this Thursday to discuss a possible road closure to expand restaurant seating outdoor until Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan.

“The Governor has stated that expanding outside eating areas is a way to keep residents safe and at the same time help businesses open.  We support the concept.” Frankfort Mayor Holland said in a press release.

A temporary closure would occur of Kansas Street between Ash and Oak Street in Downtown Frankfort to facilitate the expansion of outdoor seating.  If enacted, a portion Kansas Street would close on May 29th and remain closed until the end of June.

Other Villages, Cities and Townships have been encouraged to hold similar discussions to help support small business reopening efforts. On Friday, the Kankakee County Board announced liquor license holders could open for outdoor seating immediately.
