Hazmat teams called to Kankakee River after Oil spill discovered

KANKAKEE – Hazmat teams were deployed to the Kankakee River Thursday in an effort to clean up what was described as a ‘small amount of oil running into the river.’

According to the Kankakee Fire, crews deployed an absorbent boon as a precaution near the Kankakee Dam. 

Crews are investigating the source of the spill.
