Kankakee County Health Department issued a request today to businesses and organizations across the area for personal protective equipment (PPE) due to a shortage in our healthcare systems.
The request was made via the Health Department social networks for the County.
Kankakee County Health Department is encouraging all outpatient surgical and procedural centers, ambulatory surgery centers, and veterinarians to donate their unused PPE that is not immediately needed to assist in healthcare provider’s healthcare facilities and first responders who are out on the front lines of activity responding to COVID-19. Donations can be made to the Kankakee County Health Department or text Lindsey Wilson at 265-225-3618 to arrange a drop-off.
Sewn masks donations will also be accepted and given to people in non-critical rolls along with patients to help protect from the spread of germs. The Kankakee County Health Department says these masks, however, will not provide protection against contracting COVID-19.
