The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 2,268 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 87 additional deaths.

Of those 87 new deaths announced today, four came from Kankakee County, ranging in ages 70 to 90 years of age groups.

Illinois has hit its highest total for the number of COVID-19 tests administered in a day, officials said on Thursday. In the past 24 hours, 29,307 tests have been run. The state has run 672,020 to date.

The announcement comes as errors in Abbott testing have been announced this week as researchers announced 15 of 31 positive tests ran through Abbott machines came back with negative results.
