Chicago, IL – The calm of Friday will soon give way to a series of thunderstorms sweeping across Illinois, as predicted by the National Weather Service.

Starting tonight, the region faces a shift to more tumultuous weather with scattered thunderstorms expected to last until early Tuesday morning. This prolonged weather event will be most intense west of Interstate 39.

High temperatures will fluctuate, with Friday’s cooler 57-64°F climbing to a summery 79-84°F by Saturday. The warmth will carry through Sunday and Monday, with highs ranging from 70-80°F. These conditions, coupled with gusty winds peaking over 40 mph, may cause disruptions and warrant precautionary measures for outdoor events.

By night, the mercury will drop to a range between 39-64°F throughout this period, with the storms potentially intensifying during the evenings. Commuters should stay vigilant as the combination of wet roads and strong winds could impact travel. Local authorities may issue further advisories as the situation unfolds. The community is advised to monitor updates closely and secure outdoor belongings. With these proactive steps, Illinoisans can stay safe during this active weather phase.
