JOLIET – A growing homeless situation in Joliet is leaving residents finding areas to occupy as cold weather hits the area.

Homeless residents were recently spotted sleeping outside of the closed K-Mart on W. Jefferson St in Joliet, inside of closed restaurants, and even small wooded areas behind homes in the city.

In the past, various agencies including Will County Center for Community Concerns have worked towards providing emergency shelter solutions for a number of households.  Daybreak Center in Joliet also operates year round to provide support for homeless individuals and families.
