IDOT announces nightly I-57 closures, Sept 16th to 20th

IDOT announced earlier today portions of I-57 will be closed with detours starting Sept 16th to Sept 20th while new I-Beams are set overhead for the bridge at St. George Road.  According to the schedule, if weather plays along:

I-57 Traffic will be detoured starting at 9PM each night and will re-open by 5:30AM the following morning.

The current project will replace an old structure with a four lane roadway that will have a 10’ wide shared use path on the south side of the deck.  The project is in conjunction with a $4 million dollar contracted awarded to D Construction Inc.
