KANKAKEE – If you are looking for a place to sell your local products or fresh produce, the Kankakee Farmers’ Market is a great start for the new year! Applications are now being accepted to become a vendor. Farmers, bakers, artists and local entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply for the 2021 market season.

As a premier event in the county, the Kankakee Farmers’ Market serves as a host six months out of the year for at least 40 unique vendors each weekend. A distinct feature of the market is the option to shop with a grocery cart.

“I would like to start by thanking our community for supporting us, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to have another successful year for 2021. I love how the market sparks passion for local goods which is extremely important to support small businesses. We plan to expand in all categories to continue to make it a unique and vibrant experience for everyone to safely enjoy. If anyone has any questions, I encourage them to reach out to us,” said Farmers’ Market Manager, Katie Funk.

“The market is a great place for any startup entrepreneur to get more exposure for their small and upcoming business. It’s something that many people look forward to right here in our community. I’m excited to see what is on the horizon for this upcoming year,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

To become a vendor, those who are interested can apply online at www.downtownkankakee.com. Non-profit organizations can reserve a space at the market free of charge by also submitting an application. Full policy and procedures can be found on the website.

Musicians are also encouraged to apply for the new season by emailing k3farmersmarket@gmail.com and sharing a clip of their talent.

The Kankakee Farmers’ Market will open on Saturday, May 1, 2021 for the Spring market which is a first look at featured items such as plants, flowers, baskets, herbs and produce. The Summer Market will then feature food vendors in addition to shopping local in downtown Kankakee.
