Illinois Department of Health (IDPH) confirmed a second positive case of COVID-19 today in Kankakee County.  The individual is a woman in her 80s that had contact with the first case reported this week.  She tested positive at AMITA St. Mary’s Hospital.

The case was confirmed by the Kankakee Sheriff’s Department.

Illinois’ total as of this afternoon was 585 positive cases of coronavirus. A stay-at-home order was issued by Governor Pritzker earlier this evening. It goes into effect on Saturday, March 21st at 5pm.

Kankakee County Health Department is continuing to work closely with IDPH, AMITA St. Mary’s Hospital and Riverside Healthcare to prevent further spread of the disease.

The Health Department strongly advises residents to stay home as much as possible, including calling to check on family and neighbors instead of visiting, using telehealth options, proper hygiene and covering your mouth if you feel sick or Ill.
