Kankakee Hospital announces new restrictions hours after record case numbers

KANKAKEE – Riverside Healthcare announced new restrictions to visitors Friday afternoon an hour after the Kankakee County Health Department (KCHD) reported a record 238 cases.

Beginning November 9th, new restrictions going into effect at the hospital include one visitor per patient, per day.  Other restrictions include hours limited between 8 am to 8 pm, with no visitors admitted after 7pm.  No visitors under the age of 17 will be admitted with any visitors requiring a face masks and temperature checks at the door.

Prior to the start of the weekend, at least 39 area residents were hospitalized in Kankakee for COVID-19. The hospital is asking visitors to ‘remain in the patients room as much as possible’ upon visits.  

Other area hospitals began similar restrictions as early as November 1st.
