Kankakee Man sitting on porch with gun near arrested on Murder charges after allegedly shooting Wife

KANKAKEE – A man is behind bars after allegedly shooting his wife late last night.

According to City Police, it happened in the 400 block of Country Club Drive just before 10 p.m. Sunday.  Officers arriving to the scene where shots were reported fired were soon flagged down by a neighbor who directed them to a woman that explained to officers her husband had reportedly shot her.

When Officers arrived to the home in question, they found Arthur D. Hopewell, 46 of Kankakee on the porch with a black revolver next to him.

Hopewell was taken in for questioning and arrested on Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery charges. A bond hearing for Hopewell is schedule for later today.
