Chicago, IL – A coordinated law enforcement operation across multiple Chicago neighborhoods led to the recovery of nine firearms, stolen merchandise, suspected narcotics, and more than $280,000 in cash, officials said.
According to the Chicago Police Department, officers worked alongside federal and local partners to execute search warrants at three locations tied to ongoing burglary investigations in the Chicagoland area. The raids took place in the 400 block of West 102nd Place in Fernwood, the 7800 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in Chatham, and the 7400 block of South Princeton Avenue in Englewood.
Authorities said the operation involved CPD Gang Investigations, the Retail Theft Task Force, multiple district tactical teams, and federal partners including the ATF and FBI, as well as suburban police departments.
During the searches, investigators recovered multiple semi-automatic handguns, stolen merchandise, suspected narcotics, and a significant amount of cash believed to be connected to criminal activity.
Two individuals, identified as Antwan Bohannon, 32, and Malcolm Richardson, 33, were taken into custody. Bohannon was charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender and one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Richardson faces two felony counts of possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender.
Police said both men allegedly had prior felony convictions, making possession of firearms illegal.
Officials noted the investigation remains ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests or charges as detectives continue to review evidence tied to recent burglaries across Cook County and the greater Chicago metro area.
