Kankakee, IL – Kankakee Community College (KCC) is set to award nearly 450 degrees and certificates at its 55th annual commencement ceremony, slated for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the George H. Ryan Gymnasium in the college’s Activities Building.
Fawn Hendershott, a 2012 KCC graduate and current executive director of UpliftedCare, will address the graduates. Hendershott’s background includes extensive experience in nursing and healthcare management.
Two students, Allie Kohl of Herscher and Connor O’Malley of Kankakee, will be celebrated as members of the All-Illinois Academic Team for their exceptional academic achievements and community service. Kohl plans to continue her education at Olivet Nazarene University, while O’Malley is set to join the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The ceremony will also recognize the outstanding contributions of KCC faculty members Clay Sterling and Randy Gerdes, alongside honoring Eric Peterson, a distinguished alumni and CEO of Project Headspace and Timing, for his significant contributions to veteran support. The event, expected to last about 90 minutes, will be available for live streaming at commencement.kcc.edu and features the hashtag #KCCgrad2024 for social media interactions.
Attendees are advised to arrive early, with special accommodations entry beginning at 8:45 a.m. and general seating from 9-9:55 a.m. Balloons and large items that could obstruct views are prohibited, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all guests. An overflow room will also stream the ceremony live for additional viewers.
