KANKAKEE, Ill. – The Kankakee City Council welcomed four new police officers during a swearing-in ceremony last night.

The officers, including 23-year-old McKayla Kohl of Bourbonnais, 32-year-old Jarrell White of LaSalle, 23-year-old Jacob Ross of Bradley, and 33-year-old Robert Bass of New Lenox, completed their police academy training earlier this year. This marks the largest hiring of officers at once in nearly two decades.

With the addition of these officers, Kankakee now has a total of 67 officers, 22 of whom have been hired within the past two years.

Two more new hires are still completing police academy training.
