KVTA’s In the Heights: A Vibrant Tale of a Community on the Brink of Change

Kankakee, Ill. – KVTA’s In the Heights, a production that tells the story of a lively community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood, is set to take the stage at the Lincoln Cultural Center in Kankakee. 

Directed by Sharla Ronchetto, the production will feature four public performances on April 29 and May 6 at 7 pm, and April 30 and May 7 at 2 pm.

The show highlights a community that is on the verge of a significant transformation, where individuals are struggling to balance their traditions and the pressures of change. From light and sweet coffee to the rhythm of three generations of music, the play portrays the hopes, dreams, and struggles of a diverse and dynamic neighborhood.

The KVTA Board of Directors has stated that it will follow updated health department and CDC guidelines throughout the production’s duration, including mask usage. The policy will be modified accordingly to ensure the safety of all attendees. Additionally, every individual must have their own ticket, and lap sitting will not be permitted. Children under the age of three will not be allowed, and there will be no refunds or exchanges.
