KANKAKEE – The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in Kankakee will soon be without a home for its annual Toys for Tots storage for area children.

The Foundation announced Friday afternoon the previous space it had used was rented out.  A pressing issue that prevents them from collecting toys for this holiday season until they have an area to put them.

“The United States Marine Corps Reserve, which runs Toys for Tots, is hoping someone in the area steps up to help, preferable with a nice big donated space.” The Foundation said Friday.  “We don’t have a lot of funds.  Ninety-seven cents out of every dollar donated goes to buying toys for the children in our county.”

Last year, Toys for Tots supported over 4,200 children in Kankakee and distributed over 12,300 toys.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is hoping to find an area roughly 10,000 square feet in size with easy access for the community to drop off and pick up toys.  Donations are tax deductible and the foundation is covered with a liability insurance policy each year to cover the donated space.

You can contact the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation directly phone at 815-922-1154 or email Kankakee-il@toysfortots.org.
