Momence’s Gladiolus Festival has been canceled for the first time in 83 years.

The Glad Fest committee made the announcement following a meeting tonight in Momence that the 83rd Annual Momence Gladiolus Festival would not take place this August.

“The Glad Fest committee met tonight by Zoom to discuss the chances of the city and state returning to normal in time for us to host,” The Momence Gladiolus Festival Association wrote tonight in a Facebook update.  “We were unanimous in our decision that we needed to cancel this year’s festival.”

This marks the first time since 1937 the festival hasn’t been held.  The committee announced the Annual Momence Gladiolus Festival will return August 11th through the 15th in 2021.
