PEOTONE – The Peotone Fire Department is addressing residents’ concerns after seeing Frankfort Fire Trucks around town.

“From time to time, a piece of apparatus will be taken out of service for maintenance and repairs. Similar to our other intergovernmental agreements with neighboring fire districts, we have an equipment sharing IGA in the event of an equipment breakdown or scheduled maintenance.” The Department explained in a statement Tuesday. “Currently, our fire engine is in the shop and that is why you might see a different fire district’s loner vehicle out in our community (for a short period of time.)”

Concerns were first raised after an area resident posted photos of Frankfort trucks sitting inside of the Peotone Fire Department, raising speculation among area residents.

“Peotone Firefighters are here and will always be here every day doing one job and one job only; proudly serving and protecting this great community!” the Department says.
